PANELISTS:

Judge Sanjay Tailor
Judge Tailor presides over a general calendar in the Chancery Division of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois.  Previously, he was assigned to the Law, Domestic Relations, and Municipal Divisions of the Court.  Prior to taking the bench, Judge Tailor practiced law at Chapman and Cutler; the First National Bank of Chicago; and the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, where he supervised attorneys in the torts and civil rights section.  He has taught Illinois civil procedure at Loyola Law School since 2004 and is a member of the Illinois Supreme Court’s Judicial Performance and Education Committees, as well as chair of the civil law benchbook subcommittee.
Judge Mohammed Ghouse
Judge Ghouse was appointed a Cook County Associate Judge in 2016. He is currently assigned to the Fifth Municipal District, hearing variety of matters in the Bridgeview courthouse. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Ghouse served as an Assistant State’s Attorney for six years and then as a private practitioner for over 11 years. As a prosecutor, Judge Ghouse litigated complex criminal cases in the Felony Trial Division, Preliminary Hearing and Grand Jury Unit, Felony Review Unit, Misdemeanor Unit, and Child Support Enforcement Unit.  As a private practitioner, Judge Ghouse litigated in all areas of criminal law, real estate law, and corporate transactional law.
Judge Rena Van Tine
Judge Rena Marie Van Tine became the first female Indian American judge in the nation to serve on a state court when she was appointed Associate Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County in 2001. She is currently assigned to the Child Protection Division of the Juvenile Court located in Chicago, Illinois. Prior to taking the bench, Judge Van Tine litigated cases as an Assistant State's Attorney as well as a private practitioner. Judge Van Tine serves on the board of the Illinois Judges Association and the Advisory board of the South Asian American Bar Association. She is also a member of the Asian American Bar Association, the Illinois Judicial Council, the American Bar Association and the National Council of Juvenile and Family Court Judges. She is an Illinois Supreme Court appointee to the Oversight of Judicial Performance Evaluation Committee.

Judge Geraldine D'Souza
Judge D'Souza was appointed a Cook County Associate Judge in 2016.  She currently sits in the Sixth Municipal Division at the Markham Courthouse hearing misdemeanor and domestic violence cases. She worked as a prosecutor for 23 years before her appointment to the bench. She left the Cook County State's Attorney's Office while holding the position of First Chair Assistant State's Attorney, and, at the time, was assigned to a felony courtroom at the Leighton Courthouse, 26th and California. As a prosecutor, she litigated numerous bench and jury trials involving the most serious types of criminal offenses, such as murder and other violent crimes involving victims.
